1. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Install the lock nut and the tie rod end sub-assembly LH to the steering gear assembly until the matchmarks are aligned.

    HINT:
    After adjusting toe-in, tighten the lock nut.

    Torque:
    75 N*m{ 765 kgf*cm , 55 ft.*lbf }


2. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT:
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.


3. INSTALL STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY
  1. Install the steering gear assembly onto the front suspension crossmember with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

    Torque:
    79 N*m{ 800 kgf*cm , 58 ft.*lbf }

    NOTICE:
    Keep the nut from rotating while turning the bolt.


4. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
  1. Support the front suspension crossmember with a transmission jack.

  1. Provisionally install the front suspension crossmember onto the body with the 6 bolts.

  1. By inserting SST into the datum holes in the front suspension crossmembers RH and LH alternately, tighten bolts A, B and C on both sides to the specified torque, in several steps.

    87 N*m{ 887 kgf*cm , 64 ft.*lbf } for Bolt A
    151 N*m{ 1540 kgf*cm , 111 ft.*lbf } for Bolt B
    98 N*m{ 999 kgf*cm , 72 ft.*lbf } for Bolt C

    NOTICE:
    1. Insert SST into the datum hole in a vertical orientation.
    2. If SST cannot be inserted into the datum hole vertically, loosen all the bolts and then insert SST again.

  1. Install the engine moving control rod with the bolt.

    Torque:
    120 N*m{ 1224 kgf*cm , 89 ft.*lbf }


5. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM LH
  1. Install the lower arm to the steering knuckle with a new castle nut.

    Torque:
    98 N*m{ 1000 kgf*cm , 72 ft.*lbf }

    NOTICE:
    If the holes for the clip are not aligned, tighten the nut by a further turn of up to 60°.
  1. Install a new clip.



6. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM RH

HINT:
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.


7. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
  1. Install the tie rod end to the steering knuckle with a new castle nut.

    Torque:
    49 N*m{ 500 kgf*cm , 36 ft.*lbf }

    NOTICE:
    If the holes for the clip are not aligned, tighten the nut by a further turn of up to 60°.
  1. Install a new cotter pin.



8. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT:
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.


9. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
  1. Install the front stabilizer link assembly with the nut.

    Torque:
    74 N*m{ 755 kgf*cm , 55 ft.*lbf }

    HINT:
    If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a socket hexagon wrench 6 mm to hold the stud.


10. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

HINT:
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.


11. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Torque:
103 N*m{ 1050 kgf*cm , 76 ft.*lbf }


12. INSTALL NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Install clip B onto the body portion and install No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly onto the body portion with clip A.

    NOTICE:
    Make sure that the lip portion of No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly is not damaged.


13. INSTALL STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Align the matchmarks and install the sliding yoke onto the intermediate shaft with bolt B.

14. INSTALL COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET
  1. Install the column hole cover silencer sheet with the 2 clips.

  1. Install the floor carpet.



15. INSTALL COWL TOP PANEL OUTER

  1. Install the cowl top panel outer and install the 8 bolts.

    Torque:
    6.5 N*m{ 66 kgf*cm , 58 in.*lbf }

  1. Install the cowl top panel outer center bracket and install the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    6.5 N*m{ 66 kgf*cm , 58 in.*lbf }

  1. Connect the wire harness and engage the claw.



16. INSTALL FRONT AIR SHUTTER SEAL

  1. Install the front air shutter seal and engage the 3 claws.



17. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK

  1. Connect the connector.

  1. Slide the wiper link as shown in the illustration and engage the rubber pin with the body.

  1. Install the front wiper motor and link with the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    5.5 N*m{ 56 kgf*cm , 49 in.*lbf }


18. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Connect the washer hoses.

  1. Engage the 5 hooks.

  1. Engage the 8 hooks and the 4 claws.

  1. Install the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly with the 3 clips.



19. INSTALL COWL SIDE VENTILATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Engage the 3 claws and install the cowl side ventilator sub-assembly LH.



20. INSTALL COWL SIDE VENTILATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT:
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.


21. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Scrape any metal powder off the serrated part of the wiper arm with a round file or the equivalent (when reinstalling).

  1. Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

  1. Operate the wiper, then stop the windshield wiper motor in the automatic stop position.

  1. Align the blade tip with the mark on the windshield glass, as shown in the illustration.

  1. Tighten the nut of the front wiper arm.

    Torque:
    26 N*m{ 265 kgf*cm , 19 ft.*lbf }


22. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH

  1. Scrape any metal powder off the serrated part of the wiper arm with a round file or the equivalent (when reinstalling).

  1. Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

  1. Operate the wiper, then stop the windshield wiper motor in the automatic stop position.

23. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP

  1. Engage the claw and install the 2 front wiper arm head caps.



24. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY
  1. Provisionally install the hood with the 4 bolts.

    HINT:
    Tighten the bolts to the specified torque after inspecting the hood.


25. INSPECT HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY


  1. Check that the clearance measurements are within the standard ranges.

26. ADJUST HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Loosen the hood side hinge bolts.

  1. Move the hood to adjust the clearance to within the standard range.

  1. Tighten the hood side hinge bolts after the adjustment.

    Torque:
    13 N*m{ 133 kgf*cm , 10 ft.*lbf }

  1. Adjust the height of the hood front end by turning the cushion rubber.

    HINT:
    The cushion rubber can be raised and lowered by turning it.

  1. Adjust the hood lock.

    1. Loosen the 3 bolts.

    2. Adjust the hood lock position so that the striker can enter it smoothly.

    3. Tighten the 3 bolts after the adjustment.

      Torque:
      7.5 N*m{ 76 kgf*cm , 66 in.*lbf }


27. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

Torque:
5.4 N*m{ 55 kgf*cm , 48 in.*lbf }


28. POSITION FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD


29. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
